OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2009. Finland’s Olvi Oyj has increased its shareholding in the Belarusian brewery Lidskoe Pivo to 87.85% from 51%, according to a report of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange.

Olvi Oyj acquired 27,847 shares at 616,000 Belarusian rubles (Br) per share. The acquisition thus cost the concern 17.154 billion rubles.

Olvi Oyj now controls 66,396 shares of Lidskoe Pivo.

In June 2009, the Finnish concern announced an offer to buy shares belonging to minority shareholders.

Finland’s Olvi Oyj in September 2008 acquired a 51% holding in the Belarusian brewery Lidskoe Pivo through a private placing for an estimated USD 16 million.

Olvi plc is one of Finland’s biggest beer and soft drink producers. It operates in Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In 2009, Olvi plans to make 450 million liters of beer.

Lidskoe Pivo accounted for 14% of Belarusian beer production in January-July 2009.
