OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2009. Vitaly Savelyev, CEO of Aeroflot Russian Airlines JSC and member of IATA (International Air Transport Association) Board of Governors has made a speech at the 20th meeting of IATA Operational Committee that has opened in Moscow, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.
 
Deputy CEO and IATA Operational Committee Chairman Gunter Matschnig handed to Vitaly Savelyev a certificate of Aeroflot’s completion of ISAGO (IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations).

In his address, Vitaly Savelyev noted the role of IATA in the today’s civil aviation, in particular, the importance of implementation in Russia of the progressive initiatives on flight safety management, state-of-the-art sales practices, anti-crisis management measures, and environment protection measures. The CEO stressed that, an active Association member, Aeroflot is running its own programs for these initiatives better implementation, and is promoting them in the industry.

Notably, Aeroflot was Russia’s first company to obtain certificates in compliance with IATA IOSA and IATA-ISAGO operational safety standards; the first to switch to the e-ticket technology; to introduce IATA ‘simplify the business’ concept in its new Sheremetyevo-D terminal project; as well as support other Association’s initiatives.

This is the first time that IATA holds a meeting of one of its four regular committees in Russia. 20 committee members are taking part in the meeting: vice presidents and deputy CEOs for operations of the world’s leading air carriers. An Aeroflot’s representative is among regular members of the committee.
