OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2009. The XXII Congress of the Russian Union of Travel Industry in St.-Petersburg is over. Interests of more than 1200 enterprises of the tourism branch of Russia were presented at the Congress. Its participants discussed ways of solution of the basic tasks experienced by the travel market now. First of all, it is the threat of monopolization of the market of tourist services from large capital tour operators.

According to the Head of the Department of economy and tourism development of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia Vladimir Gromov who was the delegate of the XXII Congress of the Russian Union of Travel Industry from the Republic of Karelia, "Participants have paid special attention to issues of search of ways for the branch to overcome the crisis and competitive growth of home travel product."

Delegates of the Congress have developed a number of offers for perfection of the Russian legislation in order to create more favorable conditions for the branch development in regions and support of small and medium enterprises working in the sphere of tourism.
