OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2009. The Association of Banks of Moldova and Association of Banks of Lithuania signed a cooperation agreement.  As it was informed in Association of Banks of Moldova, the agreement provides facilitation of business relations between the commercial banks of both countries, promotion of the best practices and experience in the field of banking technologies and services, organization of specialized consultations and conferences on the issues of mutual interest, ensuring exchange of information in the field of banking legislation etc.

9 commercial banks and 8 branches of the foreign banks operate in Lithuania now.

In 2008, the capital of banks in Lithuania has increased by 15% - up to 7,2 billion Lithuanian lits (about 2,1 billion euros), which indicates the ongoing process of consolidation of the banking system. During the first 8 months of 2009, Moldovan export to Lithuania has amounted to US6.2 million and import from Lithuania to Moldova-US10.4 million, respectively.
