OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2009. State administration of rail transport of the Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsya) reduced container freight cost by 20% for the import-export rolling stocks proceeding through commercial seaports. The initiative concerns multi-tonnage containers going through the aforementioned ports and Odessa-Leski station, a railway container terminal of Ukrzaliznytsya that serves Odessa and Ilichevskii seaports.

The reduction was made due to the change of 0.6 decreasing coefficient (introduced May 1, 2009) for a modified 0.48 one. Accordingly the reduction of the basic rate increased from 40% to 52%, informed Odessa port site.

A new regulation concerns 300-500 km container freight (depending on the rate scheme). Less destination freights remain unchanged with May reductions: 40% - for multi-tonnage containers, 20% - for mid-tonnage ones.

A new rate regulation is prolonged till the end current year.
