OREANDA-NEWS. October 22, 2009. The Prime Minister Vladimir Filat and the World Bank regional director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser have agreed to consider the possibility to increase funding of road rehabilitation project in the northern region of the country.

The Prime Minister noted the importance of continuing work on implementation of a number of investment infrastructure projects. The WB Director for Moldova Melanie Marlette, who attended the meeting clarified that the present government must ensure the continuity of WB projects launched in Moldova before.

Melanie Marlette said that the WB is ready to support democratic reforms in Moldova, taking into account complicated financial and political situation in the country. In his turn, the Prime Minister confirmed that the reforms outlined in the program of the present government will be implemented and will be possible to come true only with the external partners’ support. During the meeting the parties have considered possibility of providing support during the administrative reform. Martin Raiser confirmed readiness to continue rendering consultative and financial support to Moldova.
