OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2009. International Finance Corporation (IFC, World Bank Group) plans to realize about 10 projects in the banking sector of Ukraine in 2010 fiscal year. (from July 1, 2009 till June 30, 2010), the representative office of IFC in Ukraine told with reference to the head of rep.office Elena Voloshina, reported the press-centre of MEGABANK.

"In this fiscal year we plan to realize about 10 projects in the banking sector of Ukraine, given already started projects. We orient on cooperation with system banks, as well as with medium financial institutions, which work in definite niches or have exclusive products", - she said.

E.Voloshina also made clear that IFC plans to credit Ukrainian banks, sustaining their liquidity, inject money into capital, and work with troubled assets. Besides, IFC studies the possibility to implement new products of lending to the banks with the aim of supporting the real sector of economy. In particular, it’s all about resumption of lending to small and medium businesses, microlending, financing of insurance business, including insurance of agrorisks.

According to the report in 2010 fiscal year IFC is about to increase the investments in Ukraine more than twice – up to US0,5 billion. Last fiscal year (from July 2008 till June 2009) IFC injected in Ukrainian economy US 192 million.

According to the report in the current year two Ukrainian banks have become partners of IFC within the framework of the trade financing program – in October IFC granted US 20 million to OTP bank, and in July - US 40 million to Ukreximbank (all in Kiev). In July IFC also granted US20 million to MEGABANK,PJSC (Kharkov) for strengthening of capital and improvement of liquidity.

IFC is an investment unit of the World Bank group, financing the development of private sector. Ukraine joined IFC in 1993. IFC has already invested more than US 1,1 billion in 46 projects in Ukraine.
