OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2009.  Despite the crisis, MiningWorld Central Asia 2009 - the 15th Central Asian International Mining Exploration & Mining Equipment Exhibition and Forum - attracted serious attention.

The exhibition once again brought together several special events: MiningWorld Central Asia 2009, the 15th Central Asian International Mining Exploration & Mining Equipment Exhibition and Forum; Kazcomak 2009, the 6th Kazakhstan International Heavy Construction & Machinery; and KazMet 2009, the 2nd Central Asian International Metallurgy, Metal-Working and Machinery Construction Exhibition

The official opening ceremony was attended by: Murat Murtazaev, CEO of Tau-Ken Samruk; Zhandos Abishev, Director for Mining and Industrial Asset Management, Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund; Tulegen Mukhanov, Deputy Executive Director, Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises; Sain Kydyrmanov, acting head of Yuzhkaznedra Territorial Department; other officials; heads of industry associations, unions and organisations; and representatives of the diplomatic missions of participating countries.

The exhibitions are located in the Atakent Exhibition Centre, and occupy Pavilions 9a and 9b, as well as outdoor spaces. MiningWorld Central Asia brought together the largest manufacturers and suppliers of equipment for the mining and ore processing industry from 24 countries. National Stands were held by Germany, China, Norway and Finland. “These figures represent a serious success, and reflect the continued interest of international business in the mining potential of Kazakhstan and Central Asia,” said Yuri Borodikhin, Executive Director of the Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca, at the opening of MiningWorld Central.

MiningWorld Central Asia 09 is organised by the Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca, together with its international partners ITE Group Plc (UK), GiMA (Germany), EUF A.S. (Turkey) and ITE China. The event is supported by the Committee of Geology and Subsoil Use of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The official partners of the exhibition are the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises and the National Centre for the Comprehensive Processing of Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

160 companies from 18 countries were directly registered at MiningWorld Central Asia 09, including: Atlas Copco Central Asia LLP (Sweden/Kazakhstan), Baikonur Machinery Group (Kazakhstan), Delkor Limited (United Kingdom), Distrilab LTD (Kazakhstan), FLSmidth Rus (Russia), INNOVATION NORWAY (Norway), Lincoln GmbH (Germany) , LLP Kazmechanomontazh (Kazakhstan), Outotec Minerals Oy (Finland), Zolotoproekt (Russia), Sulzer Pumps Finland (Finland), Mining Machines JSC (Russia), Polevskoi Machine-Building Plant JSC (Russia), Tyazhmash JSC (Russia), LLP EnergoCentre-Asia LLP (Kazakhstan) and many others. For most of them, the event is a platform for negotiations and establishing partnerships.

“Many [companies] are ready to introduce a number of technologies to the Kazakhstani market, which can be used in construction of mining facilities in Kazakhstan,” said Vadim Verzhbitsky, Deputy Trade Representative of Russia in Kazakhstan.

Several exhibition projects on related topics were held in parallel with MiningWorld Central Asia 2009.

KazMet 2009, the 2nd Central Asian International Metallurgy, Metal-Working and Machinery Construction Exhibition, included as exhibitors Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, Belarusian Steel Works, leading manufacturers of metallurgy and metal-working equipment, and machine-tool and machine-building plants from the CIS and abroad. The stand of LLP Stankomashtorg, which presented metalworking machinery from the Baykal, Sahinler and BEKA-MAK plants, attracted many visitors. Kazcomak 2009, the 6th Kazakhstan International Heavy Construction & Machinery Exhibition, a large part of which took place in the open, showed the latest technologies and equipment for quarrying, road building, and housing, municipal and industrial construction.

During Kazcomak 2009, LLP AutoCapital, the general distributor of Daimler AG, presented the Unimog U 400 locomobile for the first time in Kazakhstan, which aroused great interest amongst from visitors. The Spanish Manufacturers Association of Construction Equipment, KOMEK Machinery Kazakhstan, DRC International, Toyota Tsusho Technics Central Asia, and Chinese engineering companies and domestic companies also exhibited at Kazcomak 2009.

Some of these events are in their second decade, while others have a relatively short history. Despite this, specialists unanimously agreed that they are all very significant in their fields.

The next MiningWorld Central Asia, Kazmet and Kazcomak exhibitions will take place in Almaty on 15-17 September 2010.
