OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2009. The Days of the Gomel oblast will be held in the South-West Administrative District of Moscow on 23-24 October, Andrei Demidovets, head of the foreign economic relations department of the Gomel oblast executive committee, said.

During the visit to Moscow, agreements are expected to be signed between regional and town executive committees of the Gomel oblast and the executive councils of the South-West Administrative District of Moscow.

According to Andrei Demidovets, the agreement between Gomel and the South-West Administrative District of Moscow on economic, scientific and social and cultural cooperation was re-signed in November 2006.

A fair of the Gomel producers of dairy and meat products, canned foods and light industrial goods opens on 23 October.

The sides are also scheduled to hold a business conference to discuss the tourist potential of the Gomel oblast. The program of the Days includes investment projects, exhibitions and fairs of Belarusian souvenirs.

The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia will host a round-table conference on joint youth policy on 24 October. The participants of the conference are set to sign a memorandum of cooperation between youth organizations of the Gomel oblast and the South-West Administrative District of Moscow.

In January-August 2009, the trade between Moscow and the Gomel oblast totaled \\$153.5 million (\\$110.1 million of export, and \\$43.3 million of import). Gomel had a surplus of \\$66.8 million. Moscow hosted eight fairs of the Gomel producers in 2009. The Spring in Gomel annual exhibition, in turn, showcased Moscow producers. The Syabry shop was opened in the South-West Administrative District of Moscow in 2003. The shop sells more than 230 types of Belarusian food products. The Rogachev meat and dairy plant and Gomelkhlebprom regularly export their goods to Moscow.
