OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2009. "Air Moldova" has implemented 2D bar-coded boarding passes (BCBP) at all airports. "Air Moldova" reached the "Platinum" status for BCBP - achieving the 100% target before the 2010 deadline, reported the press-centre of Air Moldova.

Air Moldova’s 2D bar-coded boarding passes fully comply with IATA standards. BCBP is a part of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Simplifying the Business Program, which has introduced an industry mandate for all boarding passes to be fully 2D bar-coded by the end of 2010.

Airlines and third parties use bar-code readers to read and capture the data. Reading the bar-code usually takes place at check-in and boarding process.

Using of 2D bar-coded boarding passes will enable "Air Moldova" to implement online check-in on its website and by the use of the self-service kiosks in the nearest future. "Air Moldova" passengers will have the possibility to check-in prior to arrival at the airport and to receive a single boarding pass for all connecting flights.

"Air Moldova" is among 14 other carriers that implemented 2D barcode technology before the deadline, reaching the "Platinum" status.
