OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2009. Within the frameworks of the TAIEX project (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument) of the European Commission, the consultations on application of the antimonopoly legislation in the field of public utilities were held, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Ms. Jurate Soviene, Member of the Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania, shared the experience of application of the antimonopoly legislation in the Republic of Lithuania and the European Union. The representatives from the Department for Control over Construction, Natural Resources and Public Utilities and the Department for International Economic Cooperation also participated in the event.

During the meeting general issues of the application of the antimonopoly legislation in the field of public utilities, supported by the examples both from the Russian and Lithuanian enforcement practices, were discussed.

In general, the conducting of such events promotes the improvement of the experience of the representatives from the FAS Russia on the application of the antimonopoly legislation in sectors under research, contributes the establishment of working contacts between the experts from the Russian and foreign competition authorities as well as increases public awareness of the FAS Russia's activity among the foreign partners.
