OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2009. City authorities consider a possibility to develop car parks under the Moskva River to solve a shortage of parking spaces in Moscow.

Vitaly Kryuchkov, head of the Department for Garage Construction and Underground Development of Moscow, said at the 2009 International Forum City Build that development of parking facilities under the aquatic objects was the most appropriate way to increase a number of car parks in the Russian capital.

According to the official, the Moscow General Plan Research and Design Institute has already elaborated the designs of 24 parking lots to be developed under the Moskva River.

“However, here we have to deal with the federal authorities as the water resources are not the city property. Due to this fact we have already established the special working group,” Mr Kryuchkov added.
