OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2009. Estonia exported EEK 630 million (US60 million) worth of wood and related products during August 2009, official figures show, as KMS Baltics reported.

Data released by Statistics Estonia revealed that the figure was down by 26% on the same period last year.

The value of paper exports also fell, dropping by 14% to hit EEK 275 million (US 26 million).

However, there was some brighter news for the country as the trade balance with its five biggest partners entered positive territory. This means that Estonia received more money from Finland, Russia, Latvia, Sweden and USA for exports than it paid to them for imports.

Overall, the country's exports were worth EEK 7.7 billion (US 733 million) during August, a year-on-year drop of 31%.

Last month, Statistics Estonia revealed that EEK 568 million (US 54 million) worth of wood and related products were exported from the nation during July, a fall of 20% when compared to the same period last year.
