Thanks to Kazakhtelecom actively implementing infrastructure projects and new technologies in 9 months of 2009, the country now enjoys 22.57 telephone numbers for each 100 citizens with a total of 3,536,308 fixed lines.

As on October 1, 2009 local telecommunication network of Kazakhtelecom comprised 4,615 commutation points (including 1,233 blocks of multi-service subscriber access) of which at city networks - 1,865 and at rural networks - 2,750. In 2009, 237 commutation points were established.

City lines use 1,811 or 97.1% digital commutation points, rural networks use 1,698 or 61.75 % accordingly. After replacement of analogous stations with digital since the beginning of the year the number of digital commutation points increased by 414, including city networks 263, and rural networks - 151.

89.35% of all telephone number capacity is digital 90.19% for cities, and 86.87% for rural area.

NGN is represented with 415 IP-MAD enjoying 389,289 numbers, including city networks - 372,585, rural networks - 16,704. Operating capacity of the NGN is 290,796, including at cities - 275,563, and rural area - 15,233.

Kazakhtelecom took steps to employ free number capacity. 263,443 telephones were installed, in cities - 154,693, in rural area - 108,750. As a result the number of fixed lines as on October 1, 2009 is 3,536,308, including city networks - 2,612,937, rural area - 923,371. The net increase of the indicator in the reporting period is 203,190, in cities - 113,580, in rural area - 89,610.

Telephone density is 22.57 per 100 citizens, including in cities - 31.33 numbers, in rural area - 12.60 numbers.
