OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2009. President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko said that he would not veto the law on the social standards increase. Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada has passed the Law "On the minimum wage and minimum subsistence level in 2010", which anticipates the minimum wage and subsistence level to be increased by 11% and 14%, respectively, in 2009 and by 25% and 24%, respectively, in 2010.

Millennium Capital believes this news to be negative, since raising of social standards is the main obstacle for the IMF to release the fourth tranche of its loan facility to Ukraine. Simultaneously, a veto would have meant the incumbent President goes down on his stand point in the Presidential race. Millennium Capital considers that this decision will delay the IMF tranche provision till at least December 2009.
