OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2009. Kaliningrad seaport (Kaliningrad region) boundaries are defined under RF Government regulation N 1534-r dated October 17, 2009, informed press-service of FGUP Rosmorport branch in Kaliningrad.

Kaliningrad is the western-most port of Russia, located at the South-Eastern part of the Baltic Sea in the Pregolia river estuary. The port is connected with the sea by Kaliningrad MarineCanal (23 miles). The Canal’s minimum depth is 9.0 meters. Declared draft of vessels is up to 8.0 meters. There are berths of three ports in Kaliningrad: sea trade port, fishing port and river port. Cargo turnover of the Kaliningrad seaport decreased by 20.5% (to 9.335 mln tons) in January-September, 2009 against the corresponding period of 2008.
