OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2009. Market participants made a record number of trades on FORTS for a record value in most liquid instruments.

By the end of the main trading session the total number of trades in futures and options had reached a record high of 597,361 trades representing 3,586,991 contracts. The previous record highs were seen on October 28, 2009, when 523,596 trades were executed and on June 4, 2009 when the trading volume reached 3,583,069 contracts.

There was also a record number of trades for a record value in the RTS Index futures contract alone – 353,884 trades for a value of USD2.979 billion. The previous record was set on October 22, 2009, with market participants entering into 330,434 trades in this instrument for a value of USD2.885 billion.

The total futures trading volume also hit a record high on October 29, 2009 amounting to USD3.986 billion. The previous record was reported on October 28, 2009, when the futures trading volume totaled USD3.653 billion.
