OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2009. On 27-28 October Gazprom VNIIGAZ held the Third International Conference and Exhibition “Gas Transportation Systems: Present and Future” (GTS-2009).

The Conference brought together representatives of the leading Russian and foreign companies as well as industrial groups that work in the area of gas transmission. They had an opportunity to discuss relevant problems of the industry, modern and promising developments and technologies.

GTS-2009 was opened by the First Deputy Head of Gas Transportation, Underground Storage and Utilization Department of Gazprom Sergey Alimov.

He marked the key role of gas transportation system (GTS) in implementation of Gazprom’s strategic projects. Development of the Yamal Peninsula, shelf of Arctic seas, Eastern Siberia and the Far East requires construction of advanced gas pipelines. Mr. Alimov highlighted that the Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) becomes one of the most important elements of regional integration in Russia with gas production and transmission project development in the East of Russia.

GTS-2009 contributed to experience exchange in construction and operation of gas transmission systems, optimization and management of GTS technical state and integrity. The Forum provided the opportunity to work out joint and harmonized approaches to addressing relevant issues of development and upgrading, ensuring reliability, safety and efficiency of gas transmission systems and facilities, introduction of materials, equipment and technologies for trunk pipeline construction.

GTS-2009 was organized by Gazprom and Gazprom VNIIGAZ. The Conference brought together about 400 delegates from Gazprom’s subsidiaries and enterprises, scientists from Russian and foreign industrial institutes, experts of oil and gas companies. Focuses of four technical sessions of the Conference allowed to discuss problems and issues of GTS development and reconstruction, GTS reliability and efficiency, compressor stations, tubular products for advanced trunk gas pipelines.

On 28 October the Closing Plenary Session comprised the report on session work and the Conference wrap-up.

The technical exhibition “Gas Transportation Systems: Present and Future” was held in Gazprom VNIIGAZ concurrently with the Conference.
