OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. As it was informed in the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Moldova, this was discussed at the meeting of the Vice-Premier, the Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar with the President of Vienna Economic Forum Erhard Busek during the VI meeting of VEF in Vienna.

Valeriu Lazar has also held an important bilateral meeting with the member of the General Secretariat of the Council of Vienna Economic Forum Elena Kirtcheva. The parties have analyzed prospects of implementation of a number of the investment programs in Moldova. WEF was attended by the ministers, heads of the national banks and representatives of the largest companies in South-Eastern Europe.

The topic of Vienna Economic Forum is "Regional cooperation - challenges and opportunities, 20 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain”. The main objective of the forum is considering ways to promote investment in the countries between the Adriatic and the Black Sea. The participants of the forum also discussed issues related to the development of banking and insurance sectors, new approaches in managing the world economic crisis, cooperation between the Danubian countries, energy prospects of the region for 2010 and increase in number of projects aimed at improving energy efficiency.

Vienna Economic Forum is one of the major European non-governmental associations, which includes Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine. The partners of the Forum are more than 30 world famous companies, including Siemens, Austrian Airlines, Raiffeisen International, BENQ Austria GmbH and others. The First Vienna Economic Forum took place in 2004 and on February 20-21 it was held in Chisinau.
