OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2009. The National Bank of Belarus (NBB) plans to widen the exchange rate band of the Belarusian ruble around the basket of three currencies, the dollar, euro and Russian ruble, to 10%, whereas it had been planned that the band would narrow to 5%, NBB Governor Petr Prokopovich told reporters.

“The basic monetary guidelines for 2010 that we have sent to the head of state, leaves the current exchange rate policy unchanged, that is, the band will be at 5% around the basket parity, but the NBB is entitled to widen it to 10% without additional consultations with the administration of the country,” Prokopovich said.

Thee will be no sharp devaluation in 2010, he added.
