OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2009. The document regulating imports of goods by individuals in the framework of the Customs Union, including import of cars, will be drawn up in 2010, the head of the customs payments and tariff regulation department with the Customs Committee of Belarus, Sergei Poluden, told reporters.

“The single customs tariff that will be considered by the heads of state is now in the Foreign Ministry. The document to regulate imports by individuals will be developed in 2010,” Poluden said.

He said the decisions regarding the single customs tariffs only apply to corporate entities.

“Imports by individuals will be subject to current regulations, unless we develop alternative regulations. We plan to address this issue in 2010,” he said.

Asked about the possible differences in duties applied to imports of cars by companies and individuals, Poluden said customs regulations and setting of customs duties were up to the Foreign Ministry.

“We are aware that if we introduce the same rules, imports of such goods will decrease, but we keep working on changing customs duties, and if countries report shortages of budget revenues from these products, we will address the matter on a trilateral basis,” Poluden said.
