OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2009. A special workshop was held for rocket and space industry personnel under the auspices of the International Association of Space Activities Participants (IASP), reported the press-centre of Uniastrum.

The workshop took the form of lectures and consultations geared toward improving enterprise personnel’s knowledge of finance and insurance issues, business proposals and tenders. Playing a key part in the study sessions were specialists from Uniastrum Bank, who devised the main part of the program.

The seminars were attended by the enterprises’ senior management and chief accountants, as well as by economics department staff.

The main topics under discussion included, among others, lending to large industrial enterprises (the specifics of the lending process, bank requirements regarding financial statements, etc.), leasing (e.g. of equipment, tax breaks, etc.), international trade and structured finance (import financing, essentials of securing international financing, etc.), key tax adjustments in 2010 (changes to procedures governing payroll allocations, evaluation of cost effectiveness using particular tax regulations, etc.), and cost control strategies.

IASP incorporates over 70 Russian rocket and space enterprises and related organizations. Cooperation and interaction between the Association’s members is conducted via sections created within the Association with different areas of specialization. The head of the financial section is Igor Apostolov, Director of Uniastrum Bank’s Department for Cooperation with Government Agencies.
