OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2009. JSC “Russian Railways” has put in commission a double-track plug at the site “Shepsi-Vodopadnij” of the railway road from Tuapse to Adler.

Therefore, at this site of the Nor-Caucasian railway road an opportunity for clearing for goods, shuttle and long-distance trains has increased in 20 train-pairs per diem.

More then 760 mln of rubles were spent on the construction of the double-track plug. Its length — 2,2km. At the haul of “Shepsi — Vodopadnij” more then 45 thousands of cubic meters of a railway roadbed were dumped as well as more than 2km of rail-tracked and cross-tied grill and 4 pointworks were laid. Seven sea walls in general 850 ling meters length were built that are mainly aimed for consolidation of the permanent way, a lower sustainer wall in 80m length and 2 wave traps lines (about 1,5 thousands of meters) were built too.

Furthermore, 139 catenary supports were fixed, 7 thousands of meters of SCB cable as well as more than 7,5 thousands of meters were laid at the Shepsi station.

For the twenty-four-hour control for slides at the site of an ancient rock slide in Sochi district the rock-landslide signalizing is equipped. An actuating device of the system transfers the information about rock movements to the desk of adjacent wayside stations. In case of a sudden landslide’s appearance the signalizing comes into action and traffic is closed at this site in order to accept operational measures.

In 2008 double-track plugs were built at Matsesta — Hosta (4km) and Hosta-Adler (4,5km) sites.

Under the preparation to the 2014 Olympic Games JSC “Russian Railways” realizes the investment project “The reinforcement of the railway line Tuapse-Adler infrastructure” that is a part of the Program on the construction of Olympic Venues and Development of Sochi City as a Mountain Climate resort and includes the construction of 9 double-track plugs: “Tuapse — Shepsi”, “Shepsi-Vodopadnij”, “Vodopadnij — Lazarevskoe”, “Lazarevskoe-Chemitokvadzhe”, “Yakornaya schel’ — Loo”, “Dagomys — Sochi”, “Sochi-Matsesta”, “Matsesta-Hosta”, “Hosta-Adler”.

According to the project this railway line will be completely double-track by the end of 2011 what will allow increasing the volume of the transportation of freight and passangers stepwise.
