OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2009. In Sochi office of "SC Olympstroy" the Executive Director of Russian government Dmitrij Kozak led the meeting on questions, that are connected to the construction of a integrated an auto and railway road Adler — Krasnaya Polyana (Adler — a mountain resort of "Alpika-Service").

During the meeting the decision to put changes into the project of this Venue was made, the main aim of these changes is to save a unique grove of Red List’s tree — boxwood, that was on the constructer’s way in the district of complex tunnels #2. According to the first project road on this ground of 1000 m long it was supposed to build a bridge of255-meter long with further embankment. But it’s well-known that the embankment would demolish everything that was at the construction zone and could overlap animal migration paths. That’s why JSC "Russian Railways" put forward with an initiative to construct on this ground the bridge and flyover. Despite the fact that this variant will make the construction of integrated road Adler — Krasnaya Polyana on 183 millions of rubles more expensive, during the discussion it was accepted. Thus, the square of irretrievably eliminating ground in this place reduced in 10 times that would make possible to save more 2 thousands of different kinds of boxwood. As Vice-premier of Russian Government announced "we’re intended to make the same decisions in the following time if we had the same alternative. "

"Everyone realizes well that every development, the construction of every venue on undeveloped territory — brings serious damage to the environment, — said Dmitrij Kozak. — But we have to find out technical solutions in order to minimize the damage. We’ll take care of it, it’s governmental priority.

What will be the final cost of the construction of the integrated auto and railway road Adler-Krasnaya Polyana is uncertain. According to Dmitrij Kozak it’s early to talk about the price of all constructions on the road, because the projection hasn’t finished yet as well as not all the documentation papers have passed the expertise. But the expenditure are constantly being optimized, — said Vice-premier.

Regarding to road construction’s deadlines they will stay the same and won’t be overviewed despite that accepted amendments make the project more complicated. The integrated auto and railway road Adler — Krasnaya Polyana will be put into the commission in 2013.

This venue, which construction is under JSC "Russian Railways" is considered to be the most difficult among the Sochi Olympic Venues. Vice-premier of Russian government Dmitrij Kozak underlined that the integrated road is one of the most important object in the transport infrastructure, on which the quality of hosting Sochi Olympic Games will depend. This road connects the Olympic Venues in riverside and mountain cluster. It should make Sochi Olympic Games in the Olympic history the most compact: integrated road let the participants and quests of Olympic Games and Paralimpic Games to travel from the Black sea shore to branches of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range and back only for a couple of minutes.

Vice-president of JSC "Russian Railways" Oleg Tony reported that the work under the road construction Adler — Krasnaya Polyana is leading according to the schedule. Less than 5 years is needed on this road, one of main features which builders see in exceedingly difficult geological conditions, to lay 47 km of a new railway road and 46 km of a modern highway. Tunnels of the total 26km distance will be break through and bridges and flyovers with overall 37km length will be led up.Besides that here will be two large railway stations, in Imeretinskaya lowland and Adler, and three halting points — "Imeretinskij resort", "Estosadok" and "Alpika-service".

At the moment, as Oleg Tony reported, tunnels complexes # 1,3, 4, 5 and 6 are being built. The constructions of 26 bridges are being built, by the end of 2009 the construction of 22 constant bridges buildings will be started.

In 2009, according to words of Vice-president JSC "Russian Railways" the work on the construction of all temporary

building will be finished. 37km of temporary technical roads will be laid, 28km of which already put into use. Also 10 temporary bridges across the Mzimta river have been put to commission as well as 18 manufacture and domestic bases, the total amount of such bases will be 21. More than 9 thousand people are working now at the construction of integrated auto and railway road Adler — Krasnaya Polyana.

"We clearly understand that we work under conditions of unique environmental complex, on the territory of Sochi National Park, — said Oleg Tony. — That’s why all bases have a severe surface, all of them are equipped with scrubbing buildings, there is wheel car wash, the special accepted program on controlling for constructing and domestic waste. Therefore, we do our best to minimize the impact on the environment.

In the near future a section of the project on the construction of the integrated auto and railway road Adler — Krasnaya Polyana, that evaluates the impact of the venue on the environment, will be send to the State Expertise agency. All comments that were spoken up during public auditions, were taken into account.

To minimize the negative impact of construction work on the environment compensatory events are taking place on the route. At places, that are defined by specialists of Sochi National Park, reported Oleg Tony, with help and resources of JSC "Russian Railways" 30 thousands of boxwood’s transplants were planted.
