OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2009. The International CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST has been granted the patronage of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (O.I.V.), by the unanimous decision of the Executive Committee.

The International CHISINAU WINES & SPIRITS CONTEST is the first wines & spirits competition of the CIS, which is held in accordance with the Standards of the O.I.V.

Since 2003 the Jury of the CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST has been mostly formed by the international experts. During the last two years the 70 per cent of tasters were invited from such countries as Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Armenia, Slovakia, the Republic of Ireland, the USA, Great Britain, Hungary, Belgium, the Czech Republic. This correlation of the national and international members of the Contest Jury meets the requirements of the O.I.V. as well as it is intended for increasing trust in the countries producing wines and spirits, the quality of their products, and for the expansion of export markets.

The departing point of the granting patronage of the O.I.V., the authoritative International Intergovernmental Organization of Vine and Wine, was efforts of Poliproject Exhibitions Ltd and the Union of Oenologists of Moldova, the Organizers of the Contest, which follow all requirements of the O.I.V. strictly.

As mentioned above, in prospect the decision of the Executive Committee of 23 October 2009 will allow the International  CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST to become one of the most authoritative wines & spirits competitions held in the Black Sea Region, which participants are from Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia.

The International CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST became one of 21 most prestigious international wines & spirits competitions among the following: "BERLINER WEIN TROPHY" (Berlin, Germany), "VINALIES PARIS" (Paris, France), "CONCOURS INTERNATIONAL DU VIN THESSALONIQUE" (Thessaloniki, Grece), "BACCHUS" (Madrid, Spain), "MONDIAL DU ROSE" (Cannes, France), "VINO LJUBLJANA" (Liubliana, Slovenia), "SELECTIONS MONDIALES DES VINS CANADA" (Quebec, Canada), "VINAGORA" (Budapest, Hungary), "VINALIES CHINA" (Penglai, China), "MONDIAL DU PINOT NOIR" (Sieur, Switzerland), "MUNDUS VINI" (Neustadt, Germany), "MONDIAL DU MERLOT" (Lugano, Switzerland).

Mr. Federico Castellucci, the General Director of the O.I.V., mentioned that the International Organization of Vine and Wine is ready to share its knowledge and experiences with the Organizers for further development of the CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST, using scientific skills and experience of more than 500 experts from 46 countries.

The Organizers of the CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST are convinced of that due to the high status of the Contest and to participation of the highly-qualified international experts there will be increased trust in Moldovian wines and will be expanded export markets. Also they mentioned that the awards of the CHISINAU WINES&SPIRITS CONTEST will be the weighty argument of the professional images of producers and of the guarantee of products’ high quality.
As it is known, the O.I.V. delegation is planning of visiting Moldova on February, 2010.

Note:
The International Organization of Vine and Wine (O.I.V.), which headquarter is situated in Paris, is the Intergovernmental Organization established by the Agreement of 3 April 2001. The O.I.V. replaced the International Vine and Wine Office, which was founded in 1924, by the Agreement mentioned above.

The key objectives and goals are the following: protection of wine-making industry interests, creation of auspicious market conditions, harmonization and concordance of the analysis methods, struggle with fraud and unfair competition.
