OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2009. TATNEFT corporate Energy Summit was held on November 20 under the chairmanship of Sh.F. Takhautdinov, Chief Executive Officer of the Company. It was attended by the top managers of TATNEFT, leaders of the oil and gas production boards, heads of structural divisions and subsidiaries of the Joint Stock Company, as well as by the leaders of service companies. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the ongoing work on the energy efficiency and resource conservation, as well as the future prospects. Sh.F. Takhautdinov, General Director of the Company, who had opened the Summit, stated: "The provisions of the President's of Russia Message dealing with this subject also refer to our Company", reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

TATNEFT has been implementing the energy saving program since 2000. This Program covers all activities of the Company's divisions and has allowed to save about 1 million 400 thousand tons of reference fuel or 17% of all fuel and energy resources consumed (application of the energy saved would have allowed the Company to operate for a period of more than one year). This information has been presented in the report of N.G. Ibragimov, First Deputy of the General Director on Production - Chief Engineer of OAO TATNEFT. The specific electric power consumption for one ton of crude oil production decreased by 4.7% versus the level of 1998. Chain drives for downhole pumps operation and the technology of dual water injection and dual production allowing simultaneous operation of two or more layers through the same well, as well as other technologies are widely introduced in TATNEFT, allowing to achieve a significant reduction in the energy consumption and maintenance costs and to improve the efficiency of production as a whole.

As presented in the report of A.N. Evseev, Chief Power Engineer of TATNEFT, application of an integrated capacity payment approach, per hour planning and payment for the electric power consumption, accomplishment of adjusting activities, etc. have allowed significant cost optimization (513.6 million rubles during the first half of 2009).

Application of associated gas opens good prospects for electricity generation, which is in line with a task to minimize flaring this kind of raw material announced by the leadership of Russia. V.V. Smykov, Head of NGDU Yamashneft, spoke on the subject based on the experience of the gas powered electricity generator project implemented a year ago. It has been decided to introduce four more similar units in Yamashneft.

Reports on the wide range of relevant issues have also been presented at the Summit covering the following subjects: management of the oil fields development and enhanced oil recovery; introduction of advanced energy saving technologies and equipment, as well as automated control systems providing for energy efficient oil production processes; optimization of using petrol and lubricants by transport enterprises; improving the thermal efficiency of buildings and facilities; and others.
