OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2009. Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia introduce unified customs tariffs on 1 January 2010. The decision was taken by Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia today in Minsk.

The Customs Union Commission, the supranational body, will be in charge of the formation of unified customs tariffs. The customs territory of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia will be launched on 1 July 2010. According to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the decisions on introducing first, most important elements of the Customs Union have been taken today.

“We need to act promptly, without delay. Our major goal is to create the single economic space. The Customs Union is a very important step towards this goal,” the Belarusian head of state said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the development of the single economic space is a natural way of developing economic relations between the countries. “Thus we will get the maximum benefits, ensure equal economic conditions and fair competition,” he said.
