OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2009. The businessmen from the countries of the CIS, the EU, Asia and America participated in the business forum and bilateral meetings conducted in the framework of the CIS Agricultural Forum in Ashgabat.

The business forum organized by the agricultural ministries and departments of Turkmenistan consisted of three thematic sections. The session of the first section – Innovations and Agricultural Production and Processing New Technologies was conducted in the conference hall of the President Hotel. The reports presented by the participants from Turkmenistan, Russia, Israel, the United States, Slovenia, Czechia, Germany and Iran focused on the ways to modernize the process of production in various sectors of agriculture industry through applying scientific and technological advances in industry.

Nowadays, effective use of innovations and nanotechnologies in crop farming, cattle raising and processing sectors ensure the intense development of agriculture and increase in economic indexes. The participants exchanged views on the aspects of technology modernization of the agro-industry sector. The conference provided the agricultural producers with an opportunity to receive the necessary information from the representatives of the companies specialized in this sphere.

These aspects were discussed at the session of the second section – Agricultural Machinery and Equipment – the Prospects for Cooperation, which was held at the Ministry of Water Industry of Turkmenistan.

The meeting brought together the experts of the leading agricultural equipment producers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, the United States, Canada, Japan and the EU member countries and the specialists of Turkmenobahyzmat Association and agroindustrial departments that used agricultural machines and equipment.

The focus of the discussion was the performance characteristics of the new models of agricultural equipment, the practice of using various types of agricultural equipment, the choice of the optimal concept of mechanization of the agro-industry sector in compliance with the climatic conditions of each country.

As is known, technology modernization and replenishment of the agricultural fleet are the priority trends in the agricultural reform launched in Turkmenistan on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the past years thousands of tractors, combines and agricultural machines were delivered to Turkmenistan under the contracts concluded with the world’s leading manufacturers. Nowadays, these machines and equipment are used on cotton and wheat plantations throughout the country, to cultivate vegetables and other agricultural crops, develop new lands, conduct reclamation works and implement the large-scale projects such as construction of the Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake.

The Key Trends in Production and Application of Mineral Fertilizers, Chemical and Biological Agents was the theme under discussion in the third section of the business forum. The agenda included the important issues relating to cultivation of crops, protection of plants from pests and diseases and development of veterinary science. The foreign specialists together with their Turkmen colleagues discussed the prospects for mutually advantageous cooperation on these aspects, exchanged experiences in using advanced technologies, developing and applying veterinary medicine made from local raw materials in industry.

The reports provided the information about production of high-quality mineral fertilizers. In the context of the large-scale reforms taking place in Turkmenistan’s agro-industry sector to ensure the plenty of food products on the domestic market and enhance the export potential of the industry production of ‘the vitamins of fertility’ in the country is steadily increased. A theme under discussions was the use of effective resource-saving, environmentally friendly technologies, scientific and technological advances and the best intentional practices. The foreign partners presented a wide range of drugs designed for storing and broadening the range of agricultural products.

The high-ranking officials of the agroindustrial departments, the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the members of the governmental delegations from the CIS countries, businessmen, scientists and agricultural specialists from different countries made the presentations at the business-forum.

Thus, the business forum Ashgabat allowed specifying the priority aspects of international agricultural cooperation and became an effective step to develop the fruitful dialogue in this important field.

In the afternoon the foreign businessmen and the representatives of the national ministries and departments held the bilateral meetings at the Exposition Centre to discus the current aspects of fruitful collaboration. The foreign partners reaffirmed their keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Turkmenistan in all the sectors of agriculture industry where the vast opportunities for concerting efforts were opened up.
