OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2009. Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Savelyev presented Aeroflot’s innovative IT projects to President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, within the meeting of the Government Council for Innovative Technologies in Transport, held in Ulyanovsk, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

In particular, Vitaly Savelyev showed the work of Aeroflot’s automated call center, based on a Russian speech recognition synthesis technology. First in Russia, this unique project enables Aeroflot passengers to address the company’s call center and talk to a computer, which can handle any number of voice calls, give comprehensive flight info, and soon will be able to book air tickets. Already next year, Aeroflot is planning to fully automate the processing of at least 50% call center queries.

Aeroflot CEO demonstrated to the Russian President the benefits of Russia-manufactured self service kiosks for Aeroflot air ticket sales and booking. With such a kiosk, passengers can obtain any information on the company’s flights, tariffs and special offers, as well as book and purchase air tickets using a credit card.

Vitaly Savelyev presented the features of Aeroflot’s new website. The CEO said the company has developed a new website design, revised its structure and navigation. Among the new features will be an eight-language interface, and new sections for corporate customers, Aeroflot Bonus Card holders and the company’s staff. Today, Aeroflot passengers can book or purchase tickets and check in for flights via the website. In Q1 2010, Aeroflot will be launching a new service of check-in via a mobile phone. This is especially convenient to those travelling with hand baggage only, as it will allows them to board without having to pass the check-in procedure.

Mr. Savelyev stressed that in 2010 Aeroflot will provide passengers of several long-haul airlines with the Internet access on board an aircraft. To roll out the project, the company plans to sign a memorandum with a mobile operator and a satellite company.

Aeroflot’s IT projects are being implemented with an account to the growth of passenger demand for the services.

The projects presented to the president Dmitry Medvedev are unique, and aimed at business process automation, the company’s IT modernization and reduction of operational costs.
