OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2009. Vilnius International Airport (VIA) rearranges the work of the Aviation Security Department. After implementing new technologies and rejecting duplicated functions of employees, the airport shall save around 4 million Litas per year, reported the press-centre of Vilnius International Airport.

Supervision and luggage handling systems will be modernized, automatic control system of parking, and other technological innovations shall be implemented at the Airport.

Furthermore, the functions of the Aviation Security Department employees are being revised as there have been too many of them and some of them were duplicated.

General Manager of VIA, Tomas Vaisvila said that the security at VIA may be ensured by a smaller yet effectively working qualified personnel. 

“Security of aviation in the Airport is one of the most important and risk-taking spheres that requires right qualification of employees and high quality technologies.  Therefore, we will keep on its development, and we will pay much attention to raising the personnel qualification and achieving work efficiency. We pursue for effective ensuring of the Airport security”, T. Vaisvila said.

These measures shall allow VIA saving up to 8 million Litas next year for the security of aviation. (this year it amounted to 12 million Litas).

This year, a complex program launched for cost optimization of VIA, shall decrease the costs up to 55 million Litas (from 140 million  Litas in 2008 to 85 million Litas this year). In 2010, it is planned to decrease 25 million Litas of the costs of VIA, up to 60 million  Litas).
