OREANDA-NEWS. December 04, 2009. Mr. Anatoly Golomolzin, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia, participated in the bilateral Meeting with the representatives of the Austrian Federal Competition Authority in Vienna, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Within the frameworks of this Meeting the parties discussed the perspectives of realization of Memorandum on understanding in the field of competition policy. This document was signed by the Russian and Austrian competition authorities during the BRIC International Competition Conference (September, 2009).

Besides, Mr. Golomolzin touched upon an issue about the organization of special meetings on the basis of the Embassy or Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Austria for Russian companies working on the territory of Austria with participation of the FAS Russia and Austrian Federal Competition Authority for discussion of different issues on competition policy in Austria. The Parties noted that if the Austrian companies that work in Russia have any interest in organizing similar meeting, it can be arranged in Moscow.

Considering the fact that at present time the Federal Competition Authority of Austria interacts with the antimonopoly authorities of the CIS countries within the frameworks of the meetings of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy of CIS countries (ICAP), Mr. Anatoly Golomolzin invited colleagues from Austria to participate in the next ISAP' Meeting that is planned to be held in 2010 in Russia.

Antimonopoly authorities of the CIS countries within the frameworks of the ICAP conduct joint investigations of violations of antimonopoly legislation of the CIS countries on the socially important markets. There is a similar way of cooperation among the antimonopoly authorities in the EU member-states.

It is called "Markhfeld Forum on competition". The main aim of this Forum is to strengthen regional cooperation and coordination between the national competition authorities of the EU member-states as well as non EU members on issues of mutual interest. In order to develop cooperation between the antimonopoly authorities of CIS countries and EU member-states and to exchange experience in conducting joint investigations of antimonopoly legislation between board countries, the parties discussed the possibility of conducting joint ICAP and Forum Meeting.
