OREANDA-NEWS. December 7, 2009. In the Kostroma Region an action group standing for the Central NPP construction worked on the Address to the Government of the Russian Federation, Rosatom Public Corporation and Energoatom Concern, OJSC asking to support the project for the Central NPP construction in Buysk district of the Kostroma Region.

The action group was formed by the people from the real economy sector, political parties, public associations, deputies of legislative and representative bodies of the region. It was headed by Alexey Sitnikov, the leader of United Russia parliamentary party in the Kostroma Regional Duma.

He stated that at that time the notion of “nuclear power engineering” for the Kostroma Region was similar to the notion of the “future”. “Construction of the nuclear power plant in the Kostroma Region is a logical, sound and absolutely feasible decision, because the project of NPP construction is more than just the plant itself, it involves the infrastructural development, namely, residential areas, kindergartens, schools, hospitals, stores and roads”, he pointed out.

In addition, he mentioned, “It has been initially estimated that demand in accommodation and social infrastructure for the building, installation and maintenance personnel will make 90,000 square meters. The personnel and their families are expected to get accommodation through the use and development of existing residential complex at Chistye Bory village. Our local contract agencies may be actively engaged in construction of the social facilities. The construction project may more or less involve the whole building and industrial potential of the region”.
