OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2009. The 2nd International Exhibition and Scientific Conference on the Basic Trends in the Development of Power Industry of Turkmenistan were opened at the Exhibition Centre yesterday. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan are the organizers of the forums.

Ashgabat hosts the international forum on the issues of development of Turkmenistan’s power industry as well as expansion of mutually advantageous cooperation for the second time. This year the exhibition and conference has brought a large number of foreign participants from 18 countries worldwide including Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, the United States, Turkey, China, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan. Such impressive representation of the delegations at the international exhibition and conference demonstrate increasing interest of the international community in Turkmenistan that has the huge potential to develop power industry.

The forum opens up an opportunity to learn about the achievements of Turkmenistan’s power industry gained during the years of independence as well as demonstrate state-of-the-art technologies and developments to Turkmen colleagues, discuss the prospects for mutually beneficial partnership in this priority sector of the national economy.

The expositions showcase the activities of the state enterprises and concerns of Turkmenistan including Turkmenenergo State Power Corporation, Turkmenenergogurlusik Concern and Turkmenmasingurlusik Concern and a number of the Turkmen energy companies to the visitors.

The world’s leading companies including Itochu (Japan), General Electrics (US), Boshch and Zeppelin (Germany), BEKO, Calyk Energy, Polimeks (Turkey), ABB (Switzerland), ENEX (Belgium), Wartsila (Finland) and many others producing electrical equipment and rendering services arranged the expositions at the Ashgabat Exhibition Centre.

The conference is expected to foster a detailed dialogue about the existing potential and ways to expand international mutually advantageous partnership in power industry. Turkmen specialists will present the existing economic potential of Turkmenistan’s power industry in the epoch of new Revival and the priorities of the further development of the industry for the period of 2020 to foreign guests. Furthermore, they will discuss the issues of cooperation of Turkmenistan on global energy infrastructure development, the key trends and forms of effective collaboration of Turkmen power engineers with the foreign companies under the projects on construction and modernization of power plants, procurement of power equipment and application of new technologies in the industry.

The reports on the development of modern energy infrastructures through using renewable and alternative energy sources will be presented at the forum. The specialists of the Gun Research Institute will share experience in designing and constructing the solar and wind power units in Turkmenistan. In their turn, the foreign specialists will make presentations of the latest resource-saving technologies for increasing power supply efficiency of renewable energy equipment.

Numerous meetings between Turkmen and foreign specialists, exchange of experiences and technologies during the international forum will allow Turkmenistan to strengthen and expand international partnership in the energy sector.
