OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2009. At the end of November, Baltika Breweries shipped 17,000 litres of Baltika 9 Extra to Malaysia. The delivery is being made by sea from St. Petersburg to Port Klang in Malaysia.

Baltika will be the only Russian beer offered in Malaysia. Baltika №9 will be presented in the premium segment; the average price for a 0.5-litre aluminium can will be 12 ringgit (2.50 EUR).

Konstantin Sabelnikov, Baltika Breweries Regional Export Sales Manager (Asia Pacific): "The current per capita beer consumption in Malaysia is only 5 litres per year. Nonetheless, the country’s economic potential, the increase in foreign investment, and the flow of tourists mean we can expect growth in the premium imported beer segment in Malaysia. It is in precisely this segment that Baltika №9 Extra will be offered."

Besides Malaysia, Baltika is offered throughout the Asia-Pacific region: in Vietnam, Japan, China, Mongolia, Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand. In the first 9 months of 2009, the company’s sales in the region grew by 7%; the revenue amounted to 36% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Baltika №9 Extra is the strongest beer sort in Baltika portfolio with alcohol content not less than 8% by volume. In Russia the segment of strong beer for the last 5 years declined by 5%, which amounts 13% of the beer market. The share of Baltika №9 in this volume is 12%.
