OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2009. The delegation of the FAS Russia participated in the Workshop on competition policy in the aviation industry organized by the OECD-Hungary Regional Center for Competition in Budapest (RCC), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The RCC is a partnership project between the OECD and Hungary that provides opportunities to exchange experience and best OECD practices on capacity building in competition policy and enforcement in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine.

The seminar was attended by the representatives of competition authorities of abovementioned countries and government bodies that regulate the aviation sector in order to discuss the issues on implementation of competition policy in this area.

The regulatory convergence in the aviation sector in the EU and the role of the European Commission in such cases as well as national researches in this sector were of great interest for the participants.

Within the frameworks of the Workshop the participants discussed the reports made by competition experts from the OECD countries as well as the cases presented by the participants from invited countries.

The FAS Russia presented the case against the OJSC "Airport "Koltsovo" on its failure to sign contract with OJSC "Siberia Airlines".

In general, the participation in the given workshop allowed representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service to get familiar with the practice of taking decisions on certain issues related to the competition legislation in Central and Eastern Europe as well as to explain their point of view on different issues on realization of competition policy based on the Russian legislation.
