OREANDA-NEWS. December 11, 2009. In January-November 2009, the number of tourists (whether travelling inside Russia or abroad) insured with ROSNO’s Ural Directorate grew by 8% as compared to the same period of the previous year, despite the crisis, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

In Yekaterinburg, this figure increased by 164%. While in January-November 2008, the volume of insurance premium collected by ROSNO in Yekaterinburg from sales of travellers’ insurance products equalled 481 thousand roubles, in the 11 months of the running year it grew to 1,495 thousand roubles.

On the eve of the New Year, the demand for travellers’ insurance products is expected to grow even further.

Ms. Marina Bogatenkova, head of the Agency Sales Department of ROSNO’s Ural Directorate, notes: "Every year, we insure more and more tourists, with the last two years being no exception. This year, huge popularity among our fellow countrymen and foreign citizens residing in Ural, has been won by insurance policies intended for Russia and other CIS countries. In particular, tourists had been eagerly travelling to mountainous regions, such as Kirghizia and Altai. In December, we expect a traditional seasonal growth before the New Year and Christmas holidays. I guess that the Ural residents will be as conservative as ever in choosing Finland, Czech Republic and Austrian ski resorts as their holidays destinations".
