OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2009. Within 10 months of 2009 Moldovan exports to EU have decreased by 22,5%, and imports from the EU countries-by 37,2% as compared to the same period of the last year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in January-October 2009, exports to the European Union countries (EU-27) amounted to US538.7 million, or 52.7% of the total exports (51.6% in January-October 2008). Imports from EU (EU-27) totaled 1133.8 million, or 43.8% of the total imports (44% in January-October 2008).

The trade deficit with the EU countries amounted to US 595.1 million, or 46,3% less than during 10 months of 2008. During the period the main export partners of Moldova were: Romania - US 199.7 million (-30.9%), Italy - US 111.3 million (-21%), Germany - US 61.3 million (+7.4%), United Kingdom - US 48.1 million (+12.3%), Poland US 27.5 million (-45%), Switzerland - US 18.4 million (-38.3%), France - US 13.9 million (-14.1%), Bulgaria - US 11.7 million (-43.4% ), Greece - US 11.3 million (+2.5 times), Hungary - US 10.3 million (-31.3%).

The main European import partners of Moldova were Romania - US 248.4 million (-53%), Germany - US 200.9 million (-35.2%), Italy - US 180 million (-29.6%), Poland -- US 68.4 million (-34.4%), France - US 48.7 million (-45.1%), Austria - US 45.8 million (-27.8%), Hungary - US 43.4 million (-25.6%), Greece - US 40.8 million (54.3%), United Kingdom - US 40.7 million (-23%), Bulgaria - US 33.2 million (-11.3%).
