OREANDA-NEWS. 11 meeting of the Intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation of Moldova and Russia will be held in Chisinau in the first decade of February, 2009.

This agreement was reached during the meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Russian-Moldovan commission on trade-economic cooperation, the Vice-Premier, the Minister of Economy of Moldova Valeriu Lazar and the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Andrei Fursenko.

In accordance with the agreement of the Prime Ministers of both states Vladimir Filat and Vladimir Putin reached at the Yalta meeting on November 20 this year, Valeriu Lazar and Anatoly Fursenko discussed issues connected with trade-economic relations between Moldova and Russia. The sides noted that they are fully prepared to implement the agreement of the previous meeting of the commission, eliminating barriers existing in the way of economic cooperation between the both states.

During the dialogue the parties emphasized the progress in the sequential removal of barriers to the access of Moldovan alcohol products to the Russian market. The co-chairs of the commission have also discussed bilateral cooperation in transport, energy, investment and humanitarian field, noting that both parties have will and desire to intensify bilateral cooperation. The last 10th meeting of the Russian-Moldovan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in November 2008 in Moscow.

Earlier it was planned that the next meeting of the commission will be hosted in Chisinau till the end of 2009. As it was previously reported, according to Moldovan statistics, in January-October 2009, the negative trade balance of Russia and Moldova (except for Transnistria) totaled US41.8 million, decreasing by 5,7 times as compared with the same period of 2008.

In particular, for 10 months export of Moldovan goods to Russia has reduced by 16,9% - up to US 221.6 million. The deliveries of the Russian products Moldova decreased by 47,8% - up to US 263.4 million. Russia's share in the total Moldovan exports increased from 19,8% to 21,7%, and in imports - decreased from 12,3% up to 10,2%.
