OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2009. More than 400,000 metric tons of building materials and 311,000 metric tons of cement were hauled on the Far Eastern Railway in Freight One cars in the first 10 months of 2009.

Over 187,000 metric tons of building materials (sand and crushed rock) were hauled for OJSC USK MOST and Crocus International LLC, which are general contractors involved in the construction of facilities for the APEC summit on Russkoye Island in Vladivostok. This figure includes 45,000 metric tons delivered directly to Russkoye Island, first by rail, then by road and sea transport. More than 15,000 metric tons of steel and equipment (including 8,000 metric tons to Russkoye Island) and about 50,000 metric tons of cement were also hauled for these facilities.

"According to our forecasts, in 2010 the flow of building materials to the facilities of the APEC summit will increase by several times, so even more sand, gravel, cement, steel, and so forth will be needed," said Victor Osipov, Director of the Vladivostok branch. "Freight One will certainly continue to haul these goods. We offer the most competitive rates on such haulage and all the necessary types of rolling stock-gondola cars, box cars, cement hoppers and flatcars".
