OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Igor Sechin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, who had arrived in Ashgabat.

Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting the guest handed over the written message from President Dmitriy Medvedev and the heartfelt greetings of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who had expressed keen interest to expanding and intensifying the fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan.

Addressing the best wishes to the leadership of the friendly country, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in his turn, underscored Turkmenistan’s invariable commitment to the ties of friendship, brotherhood and constructive collaboration with Russia that ranked among the priorities of the Turkmen leader’s foreign policy strategy. In this regard the President highly evaluated the results of his recent working visit to the Russian Federation, during which the sides had discussed and specified the key fields of cooperation built on equality and respect to mutual interests.

During the meeting the President and his guest, who was in charge of the energy sector in the RF Government, touched upon the progress in implementing the most important joint projects aimed at fostering partnership in this strategic field for both countries. The sides exchanged views on the ways to promote mutually advantageous partnership in other important fields, which were deemed very promising on a basis of the existing potential and profound experience of joint work accumulated over the years.
