OREANDA-NEWS. December 18, 2009. Established in November 2009, Uniastrum Bank Community Board is tasked first and foremost with creating a systemic, integrated and effective social strategy, while also improving the overall quality of the Bank’s social programs, reported the press-centre of Uniastrum.

Uniastrum Bank’s Community Board is a four-member team, namely:

Alexander Torshin, First Deputy Chairman of the RF Federation Council Vitaly Ignatenko, Director General, ITAR TASS news agency Artur Chilingarov, President of the Association of Polar Explorers, Special Representative of the Russian President on International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of the Russian Federation Gagik Zakaryan, Uniastrum Bank President, Community Board Chairman.

At its first meeting, the Community Board established the main direction of the Bank’s charitable work in 2010. It was agreed that more could be achieved by focusing on a single area of social activity. By unanimous decision, in the coming year the Board will concentrate its efforts primarily on helping Russian veterans of the Great Patriotic War, no matter in what part of the world they live today. To this end, a special international program is to be put together featuring a wide array of initiatives and events, which, as with all the Board’s work in 2010, will be held as part of celebrations to mark 65 years since VE day.

“Uniastrum Bank set up the Community Board with a view to achieving a number of specific community-focused tasks,” says UB President and Chairman of the Community Board, Gagik Zakaryan. “We’ve always been keenly aware of our corporate social responsibility, which is why we’ve consistently carried out a large number of charitable and social activities, as well as providing funding for various charitable foundations. Our new Community Board will monitor the Bank’s strategic development and conduct an expert appraisal of its role and place in Russia’s financial and social system.”
