OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2009. JSC SITRONICS (SITRONICS or the “Group”) (LSE: SITR), a leading provider of telecommunications, information technology and microelectronic solutions in Russia and the CIS, with a growing presence in other EEMEA emerging markets, announced that its INTRAROM subsidiary in Romania has signed an €11.8 million contract with the Romanian Ministry of Administration & Internal Affairs.

INTRAROM won the tender by the Romanian Government to supply and install an integrated IT platform, which will be used in the implementation of the Schengen Information System II (SIS II), a secure platform already adopted by a number of European Union countries for the purposes of border control, national security and law enforcement at both national and EU levels.

The implementation of SIS II is a key step for Romania in the process to join the Schengen Agreement, and is financed by the European Union under the Schengen Facility (RO-FSCH) programme. INTRAROM will deliver and install the fully functional hardware and software platform in 2010, and also provide configuration set-up procedures, training and other related services.

INTRAROM is a subsidiary of INTRACOM TELECOM, which forms part of SITRONICS’ Telecoms Solutions business area.
