OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2009. More than 30 billion roubles (~USD 1 billion) have been allocated for developing new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro this year.

Head of Moscow Metro Dmitry Gaev said at a press conference on December 23 that the city underground railway network development was funded from two sources – the budgets of Moscow and Russia in proportion of 92% to 8%, respectively.

“After all of adjustments caused by the financial crisis we had about 26 billion roubles (~USD 0.9 billion) built in the 2009 plan aimed at the metro development. It has been completely fulfilled. Later, in September, the Moscow Government increased financing for developing the Moscow Metro,” the official added.

Mr Gaev emphasized that the overall sum to be spent for developing the Moscow Metro, including extra financing, in 2009 was from 30 to 32 billion roubles (~USD 1-USD 1.07 billion).
