OREANDA-NEWS. December 25, 2009. The Russian anti-virus vendor Doctor Web announced a major update of its Dr.Web anti-virus engine that incorporated a number of bug fixes and improvements.

The update increases scanning speed and provides the Dr.Web heuristic analyzer with the exploit search capability.

The FLY-CODE technology responsible for scanning of compressed files has also undergone significant improvements in detection of unknown containers and become more efficient in identifying viral compression tools including polymorphic packers. Scanning of archives and installers has also been improved.

The updated engine also has scanning of MIME-objects refined and now recognizes Outlook, Outlook Express and TheBat! mail database formats.

Dr.Web virus databases have also been rebuilt.

Interaction between anti-virus components and the engine has been optimized as well.

The update will be downloaded and installed automatically by Dr.Web anti-virus solutions.
