OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2009. The Board of Directors of Uralsvyazinform (RTS and MICEX: URSI/URSIP, ADR: UVYZY/UVYZYP) has approved the terms of a transaction to acquire a 100% stake in the charter capital of South Urals Telephone Company (SUTC).

South Urals Telephone Company was founded in 1996.  The company is a provider of telecommunications services, including fixed-line telephony, Internet access (telematic services), telecom channel lease, etc. in Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk and Yuzhnouralsk.  The company has a subscriber base of 20,500 fixed-line users and about 2,500 broadband Internet subscribers.

This transaction is interesting for Uralsvyazinform as it strengthens the operator’s positions on the telecom market in large cities of the Chelyabinsk region.

“SUTC has a well established subscriber base, including in the corporate segment.  The company has the ability to further increase the number of its broadband Internet users, and this is currently the most rapidly expanding service on the telecom market”, according to the deputy director/commercial director of Uralsvyazinform, Pavel Zaitsev.
