OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2009. Vilnius International Airport (VIA) change conditions of taxi services, rendered next to the arrival terminal, and invites all taxi companies of Vilnius city to render these services following quality requirements set by the airport.

VIA pursues for better quality of services rendered in the territory of the airport, and induces transparent and competitive business environment. Therefore, upon expiry of the agreement between the airport and the taxi company “Martono taksi” in the end of the year, VIA presented offers to Vilnius taxi companies to work in the approaches of the arrival terminal. 

“We have changed the conditions of the taxi services next to the airport substantially. Thus, the quality of the services that is extremely relevant to the travellers, shall increase definitely, and the competitive conditions of this business shall change. Since now, any taxi company of the city will be able to work in the airport if it meets our requirements”, Tadas Matjosaitis, an acting Director of Commerce of VIA, says. 

The cars of the potential taxi company must be not older than those made in 2005 and technically orderly. Taxi automobiles must meet marking standards set by legal acts, and the company rendering taxi services, must be clearly identified.  The colour and type of cars must preferably be of the same colour and type. The requirements for the personnel are as follows: orderly clothing, polite conduct, knowledge of at least one foreign language. 

On realizing these requirements, the taxi company shall be granted a permit to keep one car at the central entrance of the arrival terminal without time restrictions and 4 cars at the approaches of the central entrance of the arrival terminal (specified places) without time restrictions. 

The taxi companies, following new conditions, shall start their work at VIA since January 1, 2010.
