OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2009. An open tender to sell over 88,300 shares of the brewery Rechitsapivo (9.2% of the authorized fund) was held in Gomel.

The shares owned by the Gomel oblast have been bought by the Dutch brewing company Heineken Belarus for over Br2.2 billion. Up till now Heineken owned a 90.8% share in Rechitsapivo.

Heineken has undertaken to invest over €1.5 million in enhancing Rechitsapivo’s output capacity, designing new beer brands, non-alcoholic beverages in 2010. The investment project is also supposed to increase the quality of manufactured products, increase the output and introduce new technologies.

The brewery Rechitsapivo has been on the market since 1975. In 2008 a Belarusian-Lithuanian joint-stock company was set up. In May 2008 the Dutch brewery Heineken bought 51% of the shares. Founded in 1864, Heineken operates over 100 breweries in 65 countries across the globe. It is the world’s third largest beer maker and Europe’s primary brewery.
