OREANDA-NEWS. January 4, 2010. A stretch of railway line of the Moscow Metro containing three new stations – Myakinino, Volokolamskaya and Mitino was opened.

The opening ceremony being held at Mitino Station was attended by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov who specified that the new section length was 6.3 kilometres.

“It is the first time a station of the Moscow Metro is open in the Moscow region. The station is called Myakinino. Besides, it was the first time a private investor got involved in the metro station development,” the official said.

Mr Luzhkov emphasized that Moscow’s underground railway network would keep being developed.

“Despite the financial crisis, the development of the Moscow Metro will go on. We will find funds [for this purpose] either by ourselves or with the help of the federal centre,” the mayor of Moscow added.

The blue line has become the longest one in the Moscow Metro. Now it provides the passengers with a possibility of getting from Mitino Station located in northwestern Moscow to the centre of the Russian capital in 40 minutes.
