OREANDA-NEWS. January 6, 2010. The first section of the fourth ring road from Entuziastov Highway to Izmaylovskoe Highway was opened to traffic in eastern Moscow.

The opening ceremony was attended by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, his first deputies Yury Roslyak and Pyotr Biryukov, the head of the Department of Road and Bridge Engineering of Moscow Aleksandr Levchenko, his first deputy Pyotr Aksyonov and the local prefect Nikolay Evtikhiev.

“I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart on a new acquisition that is a part of the enormous project called the fourth ring road. It will link Entuziastov Highway and Izmaylovskoe Highway,” the mayor of Moscow said.

Mr Luzhkov added that some 6,000 parking garages had been removed from the area adjacent to Izmaylovky Park within the construction of the road. They have been substituted for the new parking facilities able to accommodate much more vehicles.

Speaking about the problem area, the financial side, of the project, the official emphasized that though the city authorities had not enough funds to complete the fourth ring road development at once, the work would be done step by step.

Mr Luzhkov thanked the designers, builders and everyone involved in the development of the road section making special mention of the good work done by the prefecture of Moscow’s eastern administrative district.

At the end of the speech the mayor of Moscow wished Muscovites a happy New Year and a smooth flow of traffic throughout the Russian capital.
