OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2010. The expectations of experts of the Estonian Institute of Economic Research (EKI) concerning revcovery of the economic situation during the next six months has considerably improved with the respective indicator climbing from 6.2 points in September to 7.8 points in December.

The economic climate index calculated on the basis of experts' opinions of the current situation and development outlooks rose to five points for the first time since December 2008. During the previous view taken in Sepember the respective figure was 4.1 percent.

The next six months should bring success in terms of investments, including foreign directs investments, and in the development of export. These circumstances, experts found, should create preconditions for the manufacturing industry to come out from its low.

Most experts regard last December as a difficult time and 69 percent of the experts assessed the economic situation as bad in December.

But experts find that new signs have been added that the economy has adapted to the contracted external and domestic demand and has made the necessary adjustments.

The common denominator of the developments that have taken place is sticking to the Maastricht criteria, contraction of risks jeopardizing financial stability and achievement of external balance.
